As Lisa and I were checking out at Lifeway and discussing our families doing daily devotions and general chit-chat, there on the counter was a Bible for $5.00. We each bought one and then promised to check in and see how the other was doing with reading it for the entire year.
I started this at night, alone and then one snow day Conor came in and wanted to join and the next night we called dad in. Now each night we read.
What have we read or what has my 12 year old read.....drunkenness, sleeping with your father ans getting pregnant, stealling birth rights by lying, telling people your wife is your sister, all the names that people were born with, some examples are Keturah, Dedan, Leummin and on and on just your typical day in the lives of Old Testament people.
We have also had "hey I know that" moments when we have talked about building a house on the sand, the Lords Prayer, the seeds that fall on hard and soft ground and Psalm 3: 5-6 The Team Kids verse.
All in all we are doing great with it, there have been some nights where we have had to play catch up and read two.
